The concept of believing in Allah and the Islamic Monotheism has several definitions expressed in different wordings but with the same meaning. ‘Ahl As-Sunnah wa-al-Jama’ah”, a large section of the Muslims community unanimously agree upon the meaning though expressed in different wordings.
The following are some of the important definitions of the above-mentioned concept:
 (1) To distinguish Allah with all aspects He deserves.
 (2) To recognize Allah from His rights and duties.
 (3) The firm conviction in the acknowledgement of Allah’s existence. It is also imperative to believe in the Oneness of Allah and that He has no partner or rival, be it the past, or future. His status as being One never changes.
He is the First and nothing has preceded Him. He is the Last, Forever and Everlasting that nothing would succeed Him. He is the Apparent and Superimposed and no one is above Him. He is Hidden and Unseen and no one is underneath Him. He is always Alive (Immortal) and the Self-Subsistent. He is Only One and the Master.
 Allah said,
 لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
“He begets not, nor was He begotten; And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him.” [Surah Al-Ikhlas 112:3-4].
One has also to believe in the monotheism of Allah, as He is the Only Lord of the universe. He is the only worthy of worship and that He has exclusive meaningful Names and perfect Attributes.
 (4) To firmly believe that Allah is the Only Lord of the entire universe and its sole Controller. He Alone is the Creator and Administer of the whole affairs of the universe. He alone has the right to be worshipped and has no partner with Him. Anything or anyone other than Allah supposedly worshipped is false. Therefore, worshipping such false deities is tantamount to a vain and futile practice and blatantly a falsehood.
 Allah said,
“That is because Allah He is the Truth (the only True God of all that exists, Who has no partners or rivals with Him), and what they (the polytheists) invoke besides Him, it is falsehood And verily, Allah He is the Most High, the Most Great.” [Surah Al-Hajj 22:62].
Allah is qualified with the perfect attributes and completely protected from any deficiencies or defects.
The concept of Islamic monotheism includes three aspects as follows:
 (i) Monotheism of Allah being the Lord (Rabb) of the universe.
(ii) Monotheism of Allah and unity in the worship.
(iii) Monotheism of Allah in His Names and Attributes.
 FACTORS OF BELIEVING IN ALLAH:
From above discussion, it is very obvious that the concept of believing in Allah consist of four issues such as mentioned here:
 (1) To believe in the divine existence of Allah.
 (2) To believe that Allah only is the Lord (Rabb) of the universe.
 (3) To believe that Allah has the meaningful Names and perfect Attributes.
 (4) To believe that Allah only has the right to be worshipped.
